Welcome to the English version of the Hooter Tooter Band website
In this section you will be offered a glimpse into the history of the band as well as its holy mission to make your party an unforgettable one.
An eight-piece party band originating from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, The Hooter Tooters pride themselves in having played the best of funk, soul and disco since the mid-nineties. Most of the band members started playing together in their uni days. At this point, the repertoire revolved mainly around Glamour Jazz; an exciting mixture of the most high-voltage and smoothest tunes in the swing realm of the 1920s to 1970s. In the late nineties, the group found its completion, welcoming power house vocalist Patricia Laisina to the stage. Ever since that moment, the party train hasn’t stopped rolling.
The Hooter Tooter Band musicians have always enjoyed playing a great variety of venues, ranging from intimate weddings to the white slopes of St. Moritz and from the odd women’s correction facility to the Hot d’Or awards at the Cannes film festival.
One of the unforgettable highlights in the career of The Hooter Tooter Band was undeniably their 2012 trip into the Heart of Darkness of Zambia. Invited by the Dutch embassy, the Hooter Tooters played three shows to celebrate Queen’s Day in Lusaka. On the first night, a massive crowd of a thousand enthusiasts witnessed how the band turned the Ambassador’s residency back yard into a true extravaganza of funk and disco. The day after found the band giving their best at Munda Wanga Wildlife Park, thoroughly shaking up hundreds of picknickers, scary crocodiles and roaring lions. After a short night, on day three the group took to the International School of Lusaka, attending an intense workshop under the skillful leadership of musicologist Moses Sakala.
